Chunc is a brand name of wheelchair for children and young adults with profound disabilities. The Chunc wheelchair has been developed in conjunction with a leading care home for the profoundly disabled and addresses both the postural and social needs of the user. The Chunc wheelchair is the first specialist wheelchair to break with the tradition of round tubes attached to round tubes which generally prevents subsequent modification. With many wheelchairs needing replacing every 2 to 3 years, the Chunc’s wheelchair modular construction allows it to grow with the child by replacing individual parts or sections, rather than the entire wheelchair. The Chunc wheelchair recognizes that a young person has feeling about their wheelchair in the same way as if it were a mountain bike or skateboard. The Chunc wheelchairs futuristic design is guaranteed to make the user the center of attention amongst their friends and be the envy of every other wheelchair user who sees it. The Chunc wheelchair comes in 3 different styles and they are the Chunc Junior, Chunc Spica, and Chunc Junior 45 plus you can add accessories to the Chunc wheelchair.

Chunc is a brand new wheelchair for children and young adults with profound disabilities, and represents the entry into the healthcare market of the H.R. Smith Group of Companies. When the Groups Managing Director experienced problems in finding a suitable wheelchair for his daughter, he designed and built his own.
The Chunc has been developed in conjunction with a leading care home for the profoundly disabled, and addresses both the postural and social needs of the user, each feature added to address a real problem experienced by the staff or clients at the home. In fact, the design of the Chunc represents almost a ‘wish list’, made up of the shortcomings of existing products on the market.
The Chunc is the first specialist wheelchair to break with the tradition of ‘round tubes attached to round tubes’ which generally prevents subsequent modification. With many chairs needing replacing every 2 to 3 years, the Chunc’s modular construction allows it to grow with the child by replacing individual parts or sections, rather than the entire chair. When it becomes too small – or if the child’s needs change – the Chunc can be easily and inexpensively modified to accommodate them.
Because the Chunc has been designed specifically for the pediatric market, it has been possible to address the issue of style along with the more important functional features of the chair. Historically, pediatric wheelchairs have consisted of adult chairs with a smaller seat. However well they performed in practical terms, their appearance has led to resistance from children and parents alike. The Chunc recognises that a young person has feelings about their wheelchair in the same way as if it were a mountain bike or skateboard. Its futuristic design is guaranteed to make the user the center of attention amongst their friends, and be the envy of every other wheelchair user who sees it. |
